PAN City Council Candidates Questionnaires
Online and Ready for Public Review

Palo Alto, California -- The PAN (Palo Alto Neighborhoods) questionnaires completed by candidates for City Council are now up on PAN's website and ready for public review. The PAN candidates’ questionnaires, which explore city issues especially relevant to neighborhoods, are located at www.paneighborhoods.org.

We deliver a two-pronged public service to the community every election year, said Mark Nadim, co-chair of PAN. We publish online the results of our candidates’ questionnaires and we conduct our City Council Candidates Forum. If you’re interested in how candidates view neighborhood issues such as housing densification, traffic and parking, new developments, and the role of neighborhoods in our governmental processes, be sure to go to our PAN website and come to our PAN candidates forum.

PAN's City Council Candidates Forum takes place on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road, Palo Alto, CA, 94303. The forum will feature candidate questions and answers moderated by former City Council member Hillary Freeman. It is open to the public and free of charge.

If you want to know what's important to Palo Altans today, read the PAN questionnaire, said City Councilman Sid Espinosa. I have told council candidates that no other survey will better prepare them for the breadth of issues covered during the campaign or their council service. The PAN questionnaire hits nearly every hot issue facing the city today.

PAN is an independent umbrella organization for Palo Alto neighborhoods. Its purpose is to enhance communications and mutual support among neighborhood residents, and to raise the visibility of issues of common interest with city council, city boards, commissions and city staff.
