Goals

Minimize harm: death and illness

• Treat infected people in timely manner
  • Method:
    • Identify infected people:
      • Contact/route tracing
      • Publicity of risks (exposure risks) and symptoms
    • Prioritize who needs treatment
      • Triage: starting with self-assessment
    • Deliver treatment (the POD)
      • Implement/enforce prioritization
      • Effective admininstration: taking medication, awareness of side-effects and other problems
      • Tracking: follow-up and avoid redundant treatment
• Minimize rate of infection
  • "rate" has two dimensions: across the population and across time
    • Minimize total number of people infected - fewer total people to treat
    • Slow down the infection spread - fewer people to treat at a given time
  • Benefits
    • Reduce overburdening of treatment facilities
    • Allow time for supplies to arrive
